Treatment with Gaviscon Infant can reduce the number of times a baby brings up milk by nearly two-thirds, helping to make reflux less severe. Active Ingredients: Sodium Alginate: 225 mg per sachet Magnesium Alginate: 87.5 mg per sachet These alginates work by thickening the stomach contents to prevent reflux and regurgitation of milk. How Gaviscon Infant Works: Prevents Reflux: The alginates form a gel-like barrier that thickens the stomach contents, reducing the chances of milk regurgitating up the oesophagus (food pipe). Reduces Severity: By thickening the stomach contents, it also makes any reflux less severe, helping babies feel more comfortable. How to Use: Form: Powder, in one-dose sachets. For Breastfed Babies: Mix Gaviscon Infant with a little cooled boiled water, formula, or expressed breast milk (5 ml is usually sufficient). Administer this mixture before, during, or after a feed. For Formula-fed Babies: The same method is used—mix the powder with a small amount of liquid before feeding. Note: Always follow the dosage instructions carefully to avoid giving an excessive amount of the product, which could lead to risks like hypernatraemia (high sodium levels). Caution & Warnings: Medical Review: A medical review should be done after 7 days of treatment or sooner if symptoms worsen.
